Some family members and I will be taking part in a Triathlon organised by me, at our local gym. The event is being run over two days on the 30th and 31st January 2010 and consists of:

Swimming 40 lengths of the swimming pool

20 km bike ride

10 km run

We are raising money for the Help for Heroes charity. This charity contributes greatly to the rehab centres, specifically Headley Court (http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Militarymedicine/Pages/HeadleyCourt.aspx), throughout the UK.

This is particularly relevant at the current time as our brother-in-law, SGT Simon Harmer, was seriously wounded whilst servicing in Afghanistan at the end of October '09. The injuries Simon sustained are of a life changing nature, but with the combination of Simon's determination and the care and dedication of Headley Court he will undoubtedly embark upon a successful period of rehabilitation.

A number of fellow gym members will be taking part in this event and the Isenhurst gym will also very kindly be donating a portion of the gym members monthly subscriptions to the charity.

Gem , Rich and I all completed the Triathlon on 30th Jan. Gem 2hrs 26mins, Rich 2hrs 9mins and I completed the course in 1hr 51mins. The fastest competitor took just 1hr 32mins!! Thank you to those who supported and sponsored us.
