The Mighty Deerstalker 2012 · 17 March 2012

MAF uses planes to transform the lives the world's most isolated people in need. We fly to overcome the barriers of jungles, mountains, swamps and poor roads to serve around 2,000 relief and mission groups. With a plane taking off or landing every 4 minutes, the need is huge. We need your help.

Story

The Mighty Deerstalkers are back - and this year, we've added a member!

Young whippersnapper Chris Stone will be joining the terrific trio, made up of siblings Colin and ML Stone and fitness machine Neil White, as they take on the most epic event of all time: The Mighty Deerstalker.

But this is no ordinary 10k. The race, set in Innerleithen in the Borders, begins at night and involves running up not one, but two rather large hills - the combined heights of which almost equal a Munro (3000ft). Apart from that, the team (along with 1500 other runners) will encounter swamps, gallons of mud, an old sewer named The Tunnel of Love, rocks, a 300m run upstream through a river, an obstacle course and a short section of abseiling.

Fairly straight forward then.

However, this incredible task is being undertaken to raise money for a good cause.

In 2011, the team raised an exceptional amount of money for Cancer Research, and this year have decided to raise funds for the Mission Aviation Fellowship.

Last year the team dressed up as Thunderbirds (see the photos!). This year, ML is planning to go as a tiger, Colin as a cow and Neil as Scooby-Doo. Banter.

So please, sponsor these intrepid runners and donate to a very good cause.

Thank you.
