My story

Hello there!

Thank you for taking the time to read my page.  If you have got this far then hopefully you will think this madness is worth your support.

So why am I running a half marathon? Well, it has always been on my “list of things to do” but there was always an excuse not to participate.  There are no excuses for not doing the October 4th run as:

1)      It is on my doorstep in Warrington

2)      I will be running in support of a charity that matches just one of my many passions so, finally, I am putting my energy into making a difference for a community rather than just talking about it.

The Warrington Wolves Foundation aims to build stronger communities through sport. Their work involves young people, gets them involved in sport and encourages a lifelong participation in physical activity. This in turn improves relations between people and encourages a greater sense of community spirit.

When I signed up in May I could just about run ¼ of a mile. After a summer of hard work I can now run 7! My life has become a series of landmarks including bridges, pubs and No. 192 bus stops. Each time I run I wonder whether I can go just a bit further without stopping…and each time, indeed, I can. I still have a bit more to go and I am seriously considering buying shares in Nurofen but I am determined to cross that finish line and will send you the photographic evidence when it happens - as long as it’s not too revolting  or you can’t tell it’s me collapsed on the floor wrapped in a silver foil blanket!

….and now for the serious bit…..

Donating via this page is simple, fast and totally secure.  Your details are safe and JustGiving will never sell them or send you unwanted emails.  Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the Wolves Foundation and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. It's the most efficient way to donate - I can raise more money (especially from thos of you I don't see very often) and also cut the costs to the Foundation.

Thank you for your support. All spare pennies gratefully accepted!
