Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
At the end of June next year we are going to be embarking on what those who know us to be the most bonkers endeavour yet! We are planning to walk the 1000+ miles from the steps of Canterbury cathedral in the UK to the steps of Santiago de Compostella cathedral in northern Spain. The walk will take us across the whole of France and will most likely take as long as three months (possibly four) to complete. The walk itself is called The Camino or Pligrims walk and is undertaken by many each year, some for spiritual reasons some just for the adventure. I guess we are the adventurous type.
About us: We are not athletes, we don't even have a gym membership! We do intend to train for the walk however. Luckily we live very close to the Derbyshire peak district which is excellent walking country. It is fair to point out that until now our exercise regime has consisted of walking to the shops/pub/upstairs so we also hope to prove that if we can do this, anyone can.
We are 27 and 32 years old and live in Derbyshire UK, we are currently mature students at the University of Derby and we are timing the walk to coincide with when we finish our degrees.
We also have to raIse the money to allow us to do the walk, we are planning several events/activities in order to do this, the first of which is a Jumble sale to be held on Saturday 14th November 2009 at the Belper Community Centre near where we live, it will run from 1:30pm till 4:30pm
