Story

In the early hours of Tuesday 11th March 2014, David Hadfield, a huge friend of the owners, management & staff of the Alma Inn, Laneshaw Bridge, and a much loved family & local businessman lost his brave battle with MND, just 7 months after he announced he was a sufferer. Dave was a man who gave many hours of his own time to help others on a regular basis, and we (a team made up of the inn's management, staff, and frequent visitors) feel it is our time to give something back; by creating awareness of this disease and raising some much needed money for those affected by it.

Our team of runners is:-

Ryan Taylor, Zoe Harker, Chloe Johnson, Andy Dean, Danielle Patchett, Chris Jowett, Danni Britt, Michael Lawless, Seb Hadfield, Jordan Hadfield, Melissa Greenall, Russell Shaun, Jessica Marshall, Nick Ellis, Amy Hopkins, Stephanie Gill, Kev Riley, Rose Prince, Michael Blakey, Hannah Tunnacliffe, Georgia Robson, Stephen White, Gillian White, Liza Hartley, Janine Redpath, Charis Rowlands, Stephen Bjork & Sara Earnshaw.

Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Although there is currently no cure for MND, symptoms can be managed to help you achieve the best possible quality of life.

Any support you are able to give today will help ensure the care and support of people living with MND both now and in the future.
