My story
Unfortunately on Sunday at 5.15pm whilst we were having a 2 minute break in a lay-by and only 40 miles from our destination, a car travelling at around 70mph lost control and ploughed into three of us and our two helpers - El and Aine.
Tanya, Jon and Dean were rushed to Abergavenny A&E and miraculously have survived. Tanya is recuperating with broken ribs, Jon suffered concussion, bruising and gashes but no breakages and our focus is now on Dean who suffered extensive injuries to his right leg, arm and jaw.
He is currently at Swansea Morriston Hospital undergoing a series of operations and skin grafts, but he is incredibly fortunate to have not died from the impact of the car.
From all our us, we appreciate every donation given to this cause and the help given to us by Amy, Aine, El, Ed and Ryan and we are deeply upset to have not completed such an amazing challenge. We travelled 300 miles in the 2.5 days, climbed over 20,000ft and had some of the most memorable laughs and moments in the short time we were together.
We wish Dean a speedy recovery and want to thank you all for donating to us, thank the team at Abergavenny A&E and trauma ward and we are just sorry to have not succeeded in our challenge.
Nat, Tanya, Jon, James and Dean

SERIOUS MILEAGE/SERIOUS CHAFFING/SERIOUS LYCRA/SERIOUSLY BIG LEGS AT THE END/SERIOUSLY GOOD CHARITY
It's called 'Lands End to John O Groats' ...Theres also quite alot of people who call it totally insane.
CYCLING over a 1000+ miles in just 10 days..... yep 10 days in a row, with no breaks in between (other than perhaps a limb or three?!)
Apparently it's also the equivalent of running a marathon each day, imagine that, 10 marathons in a row....urgh. Basically it's a bloody long way.
Saddle sore yet?
There will be 5 of us lubing & limbering up on the 8 July to begin our cycle from Britain’s toe in Lands End , to its tip in John O'Groats.
There's myself (never to release pictures of me in cycle shorts), Tanya (all the gear no idea (and a heart murmur)), Dean (will be wearing flesh coloured lycra), John (our very own 'Little Legs') & James (the only serious cyclist, our Lance Armstrong).
It's just us, plus a few very special support vehicle volunteers heading off from our Lands End Youth Hostel on the 8th and hoping to make it to John O Groats in one piece on the 17 July....Oh! there’s that 10 days reminder again!
Why are we doing it?
Well, we like cycling, eating flapjacks, wearing lycra, love a huge challenge, and also cant wait to seeing Britain as we've never seen it before.
BUT also and most importantly we are doing this to raise money, your money, for the MS Society - a charity which is very, very close to my heart.
For those of you who don’t know much about MS you’re lucky, as that probably means you don’t know someone who suffers from it.
MS affects over 100,000 people in the UK. It is a disabling condition which in the progressive form, leaves the sufferer completely immobile, incapable of doing even the smallest of physical task for themselves. It’s a cruel disease, and truly heart breaking for those who both suffer from it and their loved ones.
The money raised will go directly to the York & District Branch of the MS Society. It works closely with the community to give support and advice to sufferers of MS and their carers, and is an invaluable part of making the lifes of those affected a little easier and bareable than they would otherwise be.
Dig deep, please.
I know we’ll have to when we wake up on Day 2, with blisters in places we can’t name and are faced with the challenge of another 100 miles and having to watch Dean's behind bobbing along in his flesh coloured lycra….
Many thanks from us all.
