We are attempting the London Marathon in April and are hoping to raise money for WellChild.  WellChild is the national charity for sick children and works to improve the lives of seriously ill children and their families throughout the UK.  For further information, please go to the website - www.wellchild.org.uk

“The Costain group” is the name given to three Costain people who have stepped forward to take on the lung-bursting London Marathon to raise money for WellChild.

The three are:

Stephen Wells, Costain Group Strategy and Business Development Director. Stephen has never run a marathon or a cross country in his life. His hobby is sailing, He recently bought a pair of trainers and now, with courage as his major weapon, he is ready to tackle the London landmarks. “WellChild is a great cause,” says Stephen. “The Marathon is a daunting thought but we must raise money for these youngsters. I will probably hit the "wall of pain" seconds after the start!”  

Caroline Harris, Costain PA, has already completed one London Marathon. Now she is ready for her second. “I am focused on the money raising aspect and not my personal time,” she says. “After I completed the last Marathon I swore it would be my last. But the youngsters at WellChild need support and so another nightmare begins!”

Graham Read, Costain Communications Director, is unfit and smokes. He is the oldest of the trio and the slowest. At weekends he sits around. Now the Marathon beckons. “We should all do our bit for a good cause,” he says. “My two colleagues will inspire me to keep going but it may take me a couple of days to complete the course!”
