The Mary Rose Trust preserves and conserves Henry VIII's flagship, for the education and benefit of the nation. The Mary Rose Museum unites, for the first time since 1545, the remains of the Mary Rose and the possessions of her crew, presenting a unique snapshot of Tudor life.

Story

Hello, we're the Mary Rose Cool Cats, and if you've ever been to a Mary Rose event, you'll have met some of us!

As you can see, we've reached our original target, but that doesn't mean that we're going to stop fundraising! We've got loads more stuff planned!

We're trying to raise money to get a new museum, because even though the old one is very nice, it's not big enough, and we need the room to hold more events and stuff!

But it's not all about us. The Mary Rose is an important part of Portsmouth's history. She was built in Portsmouth, by Portsmouth shipwrights, and sank defending Portsmouth from a French invasion. Her contents are some of the best preserved examples of ordinary people's belongings from the period, and it tells us about how real people, rather than the aristocracy, lived at the time.

There's no memorial to the crew of the Mary Rose on Southsea Seafront, so this new museum will allow people from all over the world remember this fine ship, and the brave men who fought and ultimately died in her.
