We fund life-changing and life-saving work to support cancer patients at The Christie

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.

On Saturday the 5th May 2012 Gareth Davies and Michael Romagnoli are holding a North Vs South charity Football Match at Altrincham FC to raise money for The Christie; a specialist cancer charity supporting the Christie hospital in Manchester.

You have arrived at this fundraising page because your friend or family member is representing Team North in this match and they are seeking your kind support.

I am Michael Romagnoli and I am the Captain for Team North, and on behalf of my team mates and I may I take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in our event as we seek to raise at least £750 for the Christie.

Now you may be wondering why we are raising money for this particular charity and that’s a good question….

Cancer is a disease that affects us all. Just last year my mum Margaret successfully fought a battle with Breast Cancer and the Captain of Team South, my good friend Gareth Davies’ Mum was treated at the Christie unit several years ago, where they helped her to beat the disease. And I know that virtually every member of Team North will know of someone close to them who has faced or is facing a battle with Cancer.

Our chosen charity, The Christie supports specialist work at the Christie Hospital in Manchester, which is outside the scope of NHS funding, providing cutting edge care to cancer patients from all over the North of England, and beyond in some cases. Last year they raised nearly £13 million for initiatives such as a new radiopharmacy, a ground breaking wig service and a state-of-the-art surgical robot.

We hope you will agree that this kind of added value support ,which builds on the care that can be provided from NHS funding, really does make a huge difference to patient care so please dig deep and show your support for our chosen charity and your friend or relative in Team North and *donate whatever you can. We really do appreciate your support.

You are also more than welcome to come down to the match on Saturday the 5th May. The game is being held at Moss Lane in Manchester, the home of Altrincham FC (and Manchester United Reserves!), and the kick-off is at 7:45pm. The ground and its bar will be open from around 3pm on the day of the match (Cup Final Day) and there will be food after the game for everyone to tuck into and hopefully a few more surprises on the day to keep things interesting, so please do come down for an evening of fun and entertainment raising money for a very worthwhile cause.

We’d also be really grateful if you could pass this link onto any of your friends and family, and spread the word about the great work of the Christie.

 Thanks for your support.

Michael Romagnoli and all of Team North.
