UPDATE 9TH MAY 2010.
WE DID IT!!! WE ALL COMPLETED THE COURSE AND ARE NOW TRIATHLETES!!
Olivia (16) Jess (14) and I (43!!) are doing a Triathlon! Some of us would rather be reading, but...it's time to stand up and be counted! (or swim, cycle, run and be timed - help!).
We're doing the Cotswold Supersprint and it will be on May 9th. This involves swimming across a (cold!) lake, cycling 20km, then running 2.5km.
Olivia was born with a large head and neck haemangioma (commonly called a strawberry mark) which caused huge life-threatening health problems, including the need for a tracheostomy for 4 years, medication for heart failure and a gastrostomy feeding tube for 5 years. One side of Liv's body is bigger than the other and she has been left with some cognitive issues. Does this stop her from being one of the most enthusiastic and energetic people I know? Not a bit!
You can see why I am so excited to be able to do this with both of my girls, and we are training hard together.
Changing Faces has been part of our lives since 1994 and we are more than happy to use this opportunity to raise money towards their excellent work. Olivia is on the Young Person's Council and I am a 'Face Equality Champion'. 'Superfit' Jess is a strong supporter of Changing Faces and has helped myself and Liv in everything from campaigns to photo shoots.
Please give generously. Many Thanks.
Penny, Liv and Jess xxx
