Back in January, Dave Welsh decided that in his 50th year he should do something BIG and chose a Half and a full Ironman Triathlon in 2010. Like fools we said "Good idea, we'll do the Half with you". So, five of us are taking part in the Weymouth Half Ironman Triathlon on Sunday 6th June. Yes, you're right, it is a crazy idea but seemed to make sense in January. It's 70.3 miles in total, 1.2 miles swimming (in the sea), 56 miles on the bike, finishing with a half marathon and not forgetting the peeling off the wetsuit phase which is proving troublesome!
To give us some training incentive we decided to raise money for St Nicholas Junior School Building Fund in the process. No, its not to put right the damage done by our unruly offspring, more to help towards the building of new classrooms and facilities through charitable donation.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
We'll be digging deep in a few weeks from now so please, dig deep and donate now. If you can only donate a few quid it doesn't matter, any sum will help us towards our £1,000, target.
