Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page where you can support us in our mammoth adventure to undertake The Mongol Rally 2010 and donate money to The Neurofibromatosis Association.
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder in which tumors grow on the peripheral and/or central nervous system. There are two types of NF: NF1 sees tumors grow on the peripheral nervous system, spots appear on the skin, scoliosis and learning disabilities. NF2 is the more serious of the two types, with tumors on the central nervous system, including the brain and spine and commonly the auditory nerves. Such tumors can cause effects such as hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness, facial numbness, balance problems, chronic headaches and paralysis. With Laura's mother suffering from NF2, The Two Mongoleers have seen first hand what a shattering effect this disease can have. See http://www.nfauk.org/ for more info.
