Story
Our challenge day has moved!!! We will now be completing our challenge on Saturday 12th June!
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
So many people’s lives are affected in a number of ways by cancer and there is currently a whole range of fantastic research projects underway by Cancer Research UK – for which as ever, there are limited funds available for. In our lifetime, cancer is the biggest, scariest unknown entity which, if it doesn’t affect us, it is likely to affect someone we are very close to. Just short of 300,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed each year with statistics saying that 1 in 3 of us will develop cancer at some point in our lifetime. For us, these are all compelling reasons why we'd like to support Cancer Research UK and why we'd love it if you could support us! For those who have been affected by cancer in some way, this is our opportunity to focus on a positive outcome and hopefully by our actions, give others more opportunity for a positive outcome too. It couldn't be said that we are athletes. Athletic does not describe us in any way shape or form. But we are game (or stupidly naive!)
So what are we doing?!
We are going to be canoeing the length of the three longest lakes in Cumbria (Windermere, Ullswater and Coniston) within 10 hours. This is about 21 miles - basically like canoeing from Huddersfield to Leeds. Some of us haven't even sat in a canoe before (and have a fear of water) so this is a huge challenge for the team. Please help us reach our target and make this small gesture worthwhile.
