Thanks for taking the time to visit my 'Big Shave Off' JustGiving page.
On Monday, 5th July at 7.00pm, I, Kathryn Mitson, will be having all my hair shaved off, in a bid to raise money for Camilles Appeal.
Camille is the beautiful 3 year old daughter of my good friends Hayley and Martin. In June 2009, aged just 2 years old, Camille was diagnosed with an Intracranial Ependymoma situated in the fourth ventricle between the cerebellum and the brain stem at the base of the brain. The tumour is currently pressing against the cerebellum and brain stem making surgery too dangerous. Her current treatment is chemotherapy to shrink the tumour away from these two areas so surgery can take place. Chemotherapy started on 23rd July 2009 and is currently ongoing.
Camille is such a special little girl who has spent the last year fighting a terrible, cruel and unfair disease. She deserves the best chance of life and her mummy and daddy and big sister deserve to have the chance to spend many, many more years with her. Camille has lost her hair through the gruelling chemotherapy treatment that she is currently relying on to save her life. Having no hair at all is a frightening prospect to anyone, especially when you have always had long dark hair and have probably never seen anyone with no hair before. Me shaving my hair off is my way of showing my respect to Camille and what she is going through. She is such a brave little girl who touches the hearts of all those she meets, and I want to do what I can to support her and raise money to help her get the treatment she so desperately needs. Have a look at this video of Camille over the last year, you cannot fail to see how important it is to help her in her fight http://animoto.com/play/pBlb0fag6aTyJl5V2qhRzw
Camille’s Appeal has been created to support children under five suffering from Brain Tumours. As an organisation they not only recognise that long-term survival is the first goal for any family going through this ordeal. However, Camille’s Appeal also recognises that life after treatment is as important to these brave children and their families. Please visit http://www.camillesappeal.co.uk/ for more information, and become a fan of Camilles Appeal at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=652483123#!/group.php?gid=178959969662
PLEASE dig deep and help me to help Camille fight for her future.
Thank you xxx
