Did you know that in South Africa there are still over 1000 people dying every day from HIV/AIDs because they do not have access to antiretroviral drugs? Hundreds will also lose their lives from TB, a completely curable disease! Thembalitsha UK provides Healthcare, Training and Education which all help to restore hope...

Hello, Everyone!  And a big THANK YOU for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Who We Are:

Simply put - we are just six women who are looking to raise money for a great cause.

What We Are Doing:

On 11 July 2010, we will be participating in the TENTH ANNIVERSARY ASICS BRITISH 10K LONDON RUN!

(Click here for more details:  http://www.thebritish10klondon.co.uk/Frameset/British10K2010.htm )

Why We Are Doing It:

In late 2007, Thembalitsha UK was set up as a registered charity in the UK (charity number 1122832), and as a registered company in England and Wales (company number 6446753).  Then in April of 2008, Thembalitsha UK was able to purchase a 6 hectare farm in South Africa which is now known as the "Village of Hope".  Here the volunteers care for babies, children and adults infected or affected by HIV and AIDS.  The group also provides healthcare, education and training in the townships of the Western Cape and financially contributed to the internal completion of a new extension at ThembaCare Grabouw.  But in order for the Village of Hope to continue its support of the ongoing work and projects that Thembalitsha are involved with in South Africa - they need to be supported by us (and you!).  Which is why we are running in the London 10K in July of this year.  Not only to bring attention to this charity but to raise money for them so that they can continue to make a difference!

How You Can Help:

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. And you can rest assured, knowing that your details are safe with JustGiving as they will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they will send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer (note to sponsors located outside of the UK - Gift Aid does not affect you in any way, so please do not let it keep you from donating!). Giving online is the most efficient way to donate - not only is it easy for you as well as us - it also saves time and cuts costs for the charity.

So, please open up your hearts (and wallets) and help us in supporting this great cause!

Many thanks again!

Emily, Ashleigh, Liz, Claire, Michelle and Lucy
