Thank you for visiting this page, associated with the 2010 Silver Wedding anniversary of Andrew and Louise Third and Louise's 50th birthday celebration.
Rather than receiving gifts we decided that we wanted to support the Ngora Parent's School in North East Uganda which we visited in July 2010. Secondary education in Uganda is not free and the Parent's School is an initiative by the parents of Ngora to provide low cost schooling to give their children an education which they otherwise could not afford. The school faces many challenges but every small resource we can make available will help the situation.
We have decided that we would like your gifts to support the education of girls at the school who would otherwise be withdrawn by their parents because they cannot afford the fees. It is always the girls who are withdrawn first and as the parents of girls we are concerned by this.
£450 will enable 10 girls to receive another year of education at the school. Obviously if we raise more we can help more children.
We will let the school decide how best to disperse this benefit (e.g. all in one year or divided among a smaller number of girls over a number of years to allow them to complete their education). Our only requirements will be that the money is spent on girls who are already at the school and who would not continue at the school unless separately funded. We will ask for an annual list of the children receiving the benefit and their academic achievement. We plan to return in 2012 or 2013 and will aim to meet some of the children then.
All monies will be routed through the Teso Development Trust who also visit the region regularly and will be able to visit the school.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the Teso Development Trust and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you for wanting to give us a gift and we hope you approve of how we propose to use it.
