Story

Completed the Edinburgh Marathon in 3 hours 44 minutes 30 seconds, possibly one of the hardest things i've ever done especially for the last few miles but very rewarding.

29% of Nepalese children have no access to primary education

Future for Nepal was set up in January 2004 by Thomas Wells (an ex Durham student) as an organisation dedicated to giving children in Nepal a better start in life through sponsoring children's education, running grass root community projects and charity treks.

Money raised is used in a variety of ways though of the most important is to sponsor children to study in a boarding or day school basis at Alpha High School, a private English medium school in Kathmandu. As well as this the money is used to sponsor grass-root community projects within the Kathmandu Valley.

The money is used on a small scale to make a big difference to people's lives giving a very tangible and worthwhile meaning to the money you donate.

More can be found out about the great work they do at their website:

http://www.futurefornepal.com/

This year I am lucky enough to be going on a charity trek.

For the last 6 years groups of Durham students have raised money for this wonderful charity and then through DUCK (Durham University Charity Komittee) gone out to Nepal for 5 weeks expedition to teach in schools, work in communities and experience the good work Future for Nepal does.

Sitting here now £2600 seems a daunting amount especially in such a short time as 6 months, however in this time I plan to do lots to. At the very least i will be running my first marathon in Edinburgh on May 22nd as well as hopefully holding a large raffle before Easter and participating in rag raids and further fundraising events.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

There are other ways to donate as well. Any cheques can be made out to 'DUCK' and cash can be deposited as well, verbal support is of course also welcome all the time =) .

Thank you for taking the time to read through my page and please help me support such a worthwhile cause,

Thank you.
