Story

When we first took Thomas over to AVuk in Bicester, we were skeptical as to how much they could do for our boy and we weren't sure if their methods would suit us.

How wrong we were! By the end of that first session, Thomas was making sounds we had never heard him do before and we were really inspried. It took a little more time for me to be convinced that the drive, the hours spent in the car getting there, the petrol costs and the effort were worth it, but thank goodness we did!

It is hard for me to put into words just how grateful we are to AVuk and the team there in helping our boy to talk. They are amazing! Last year we went there every fortnight, but this year we have scaled back to once a month, such is the progress he has made.

We were honored that in 2011 they used a video of Thomas singing Twinkle Twinkle as their Christmas thank you message on their website. His therapist Susie, is so good; she has endless patience and the one-on-one sessions are as much for my benefit as they are for Thomas. Susie teaches ME how to teach Thomas...it is essential support and I think Thomas speaks for the success of this Auditory Verbal approach.

We would be very grateful if you would consider donating to AVuk in lieu of giving me a birthday gift. Like all charities, they rely on fundraising for extra resources and we feel it's the least we can do to show our support of their approach to helping deaf children talk.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you so very, very much - we are extremely grateful for your generosity.

Kris, Rob & Thomas xxx
