Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Thunderhead 3 Peaks Challenge JustGiving page.  The members of the team are planning to hike Snowdon (Wales), Scafell Pike (England) and Ben Nevis (Scotland) in 24 hours (coffee anyone?).  It should be a smashing adventure!!

We all have our own reasons for attempting this challenge, but the general theme is that all want to do something to raise money for a worthy cause (and have a good time doing it!).  Cancer has affected us all in some way and we believe this challenge is the best way for us to contribute and to heightened awareness amongst our friends, family and colleagues.

So please give generously we ask you with all due respect, please give generously!!

Now it's time to meet members of the team.

Istvan Balogh - "Hello, I am Istvan!  I love the mountains you can see that from my picture."

Steve Bowen - "I'm attempting this challenge mostly because it's there to be done.  The charity is very close to my heart having lost my mother several years ago to cancer.  Macmillan nurses looked after her with dedication and great care and deserve every penny you have in your pocket, so please give generously."

Linds Browne - "Howdy Ho!  I am an American-born Australian living in the UK.  I have been here for 18 months and have already had the pleasure of climbing all three peaks.  However, I am looking forward to the 24 hour challenge.  One of the reasons I am supporting the Macmillan charity is because I have a good friend in Australia who is currently suffering through breast cancer.  Through this challenge, I am hoping in a small way to ease the pain of someone in the UK who is also struggling with this terrible disease."

Shirls Browne - "Hi.  I'm Shirls and I will be the driver for the adventure. Luckily enough, I have already been to the top each peak.  Been there, done that!  Through our efforts, however, I am also hoping that we can give a little back and in our own way support this wonderful charity that is helping those that are sufferring.  Please give as much as you can."

Olaf Dewald - "Hi, my name is Olaf.  I love (apart from having a good time) all sorts of activity where I can beat my worst enemy: myself.  That's probably the reason why I am doing this. :-))"

Melina Mathieu - "Hi, my name is Melina Mathieu, I am a 27 year  old German and have moved to  the UK 4 years ago.  My 12 year old cousin and my 44 year old aunt who have just recently been diagnosed with thyroid cancer have reemphasised to me what is important in life. They are both fighters but I am not too sure if they would have been as strong minded without the  great deal of support by the hospital nurses and doctors. They both live in Germany and so unfortunately I cannot be with them at the time they need me the most. It is therefore very reassuring to know that they are in good hands. Everyone in this world diagnosed with this terrible disease should have access to adequate treatment and therefore I hope that with our donation, we might move one small step towards this goal."

Andreas Neocleous - “Hi everyone, I am the Greek member of the team! I was born and raised in Cyprus but settled in England for over 27 years now. I enjoy cycling, football, travelling, clay shooting and off course walking.  Why am I doing this? I am doing it for the challenge and I think the chosen charity is a worthwhile cause too. So give generously!”

Steve Picton - "Hi I'm Steve (Pixie), 41 years of age, balding and generally falling apart from the knees up!!  My main reason for taking on the three peaks challenge is to raise funds for a local sick children's hospice in Cardiff named 'Ty Hafan,' They provide an incredible environment for both sick children and their families. They do not receive very much government funding and most of their funding is through donations, so I thought hey I'll do my bit to support them.  Team Thunderhead are GO!!!!"

Vinny Viddy - "Hello. I'm doing this challenge mainly to contribute to the diversity of nationalities in the team! I'm a French expatriate who came to Britain in order to improve my English skills. I love hiking, and it appears that this country has a lot to offer on that matter! I like this idea of doing a challenge for a good cause. Cancer is a disease that affects virtually every family, and it has struck mine too. So please be generous!"
