Story
Hi!
I have signed up for a fundraising event to help The Alzheimer's Society, a cause that I think everyone knows means a lot to me. Why I couldn't just have done another 10k run I'm not too sure: instead, in what can only be described as a moment of madness, I've decided to do an abseil. And just to make it worse, a FOUR HUNDRED FOOT abseil. Yikes!
This is genuinely going to be a huge challenge for me, especially given I'm not a big fan of heights! In fact, every time I think about it I feel sick and my legs start to go a bit shaky. But what’s a challenge if it’s not a dry-mouthed, sweaty-palmed fear fest!?? And I want to give good value for money – I suspect the amusement factor of the ‘before’ photos alone will be worth it.
The event is on the 4th February, so I don't have much time to get raising funds! I'd be so so grateful to anyone who'll sponsor me.
£500 could supply a laboratory researcher with reagents to carry out important microscopy work to help understand the causes of dementia and if I could raise as much as £1000, that could pay towards two weeks of research investigating the possible causes of dementia or more effective ways of caring for people with dementia.
I've attached a photo of the tower so you can have an idea of what I've let myself in for!
Okay guys, slight update because everyone has been so generous - I've reached my first targets and so I'm now upping my target to £700! Thank you so much to everyone who has, and is, supporting!
