My story

Whilst Tobin, my brother, was ill, I witnessed a lot of professional care and support for him, his family and friends. A lot of his care was medical and a lot was palliative. I knew nothing about palliative care at the time. I didn't even know it had its own name let alone its own specialist staff. As mentioned in the Trinity video, palliative carers are special people. Not all carers can do it. They have unique skills and talents and the effect on patients and their families is remarkable. Trinity does really great work, both in the hospice and for people in their own homes too.

I have recently got to know The Trinity Hospice quite well. I help out in the garden. I know that any money raised will do a lot of good.

This was broadcast on London tonight in Jan re the anniversary

http://www.itv.com/london/hospice-anniversary34180/

So with this in mind I'm going to cycle to Paris.

I have to say, I chose this challenge before I'd really thought it through. I haven't cycled anywhere near that far before. Have you seen it on the map? It's blinkin' miles away!

So the training starts now.

The riding schedule is

day one   95 (hilly!) miles- London to Dover plus 5miles from Calais to Hotel

day two 75 miles- Calais to Abberville

day three  70 miles- Abberville to Beauvais

day four 60 miles- Beauvais to Paris

Apparently this IS possible, thou I have my doubts

and there aren't many causes I'd don the padded lycra for.

So thank you so much for your support

Tim

UPDATE  AUGUST

Only a few weeks to go to the ride

I have ridden approx 700 miles in preparation so far. But getting an annoying bug last month means I am behind the training schedule. I'm trying to make up for it at the moment.

I have decided to donate a painting and a photograph to two randomly picked donators. (each donated pound equalling a ticket number) This of course includes all those generous souls who have already donated.

I have just about reached the fund raising target but would love to get closer to the £2k marker. Hopefully with the recent publicity (see new photo) this might happen.

Many thanks to all those who have donated so far.

UPDATE 7.11.20011

I have draw the winning numbers from all you lovely donators

and the winners are

print Tony McNaulty and Martin Illot (they are good at sharing)

painting Margaret Hunt

here is the link to a little film of the draw

Thank you all again

Lots of Love

Trinity Hospice

Trinity Hospice

Charity Registration No. 1013945

Trinity Hospice provides care for people with advanced illnesses within their homes or at the hospice. We support them in living every moment and achieving the best possible quality of life. Everyone receives the treatment and support they require however long it is needed, free of charge. We offer our services to a population of ¾ million people in central and southwest London and support over 2,000 people a year. This financial year we must raise close to £7.6m, only around a third of which comes from the NHS. We were founded in 1891 and are the oldest hospice in the UK.
