Story
Many thanks to my RLSS colleagues, and Mark Shakles in particular who made a fantastic job of organising and lifeguarding this event. The whole family had a great day, helped in no small measure by the fantastic weather.
Thanks for all the donations, and messages of support, without which I may not have been able to pass up on the 1/2 distance finish at pottery pier. It was tempting, but I pushed on to eventually complete the full distance (6.5km) in 2 hours 12 (allowing rooom for improvement if I am ever mad enough to attempt this again). My navigation of the course could certainly use some work as I zig-zagged way too far out finding my self for the most part on my lonesome. The last 1/3, topped off by the final corner at which point the sea state became dishearteningly choppy when I least needed it was simply hard graft.
See you next year ;-)
