1000 miles of cycling. 14 days. Two panniers. One sore bottom.
From 22 May to 4 June I am cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats. My lack of social skills mean I'm doing it on my own. No one to carry my stuff. No one to ride behind to shelter from the wind. No one to share the morning aches and pains with.
And at points in the ride, whether going up a steep Devon hill, or stuck in a torrential downpour by a Scottish lock, I will want to give up. If you sponsor me, I won't be able to.
I am raising money for two charities: Jubilee Debt Campaign and World Development Movement. Any money you give will be split evenly between them. Both campaign to end injustice so that people across the world can have a better life. People like the one billion who will go hungry today, tomorrow and every day.
They are both very good at it. Together they have got over £50 billion of unjust debt cancelled. As a result, across the world in countries like Zambia, Ghana and Nicaragua millions more is now being spent every year on getting people into school and providing healthcare. For every pound given to campaign, thousands have been spent on improving peoples' lives.
World Development Movement is currently campaigning to stop banks speculating on food and oil, which increases prices and causes hunger. It is also campaigning to tackle climate change and to get nationalised banks to stop investing in projects which damage human rights.
Jubilee Debt Campaign recently got an important new law passed to prevent so-called 'Vulture Funds' cheaply buying debt then suing some of the world's poorest countries for the full amount. They also managed to get debt cancellation for Haiti following the devastating earthquake. And there is still a lot of unjust debt to be cancelled.
As well as sponsoring me, if you want to add your voice to those campaigning for justice you can do so here:
