Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am undertaking a journey to compete in an Ironman Triathlon in June 2011, my plan is complete the Forestman triathlon in the New Forest.

An Ironman triathlon is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and a marathon (26.2 miles)...

The dictionary definition of an Ironman is "A male athlete of remarkable endurance or durability" those of you that know me will know that I probably don't immediately spring to mind as the above!

With this in mind I decided to undertake a huge challenge with the aim of helping out those less fortunate than myself, I have chosen SeeSaw and EdUKaid as two charities whom I would like to benefit from this undertaking

"EdUKaid is a UK based charity that aims to enable the children of the developing world to gain dignity and future prosperity for themselves and their communities by providing education"

Focusing specifically on Southern Tanzania, these guys provide education in one of the poorest places in the world to help increase the chance of creating a better life!

"SeeSaw helps children and their families both before and after a major bereavement, helping them to move forward and to face the future with hope"

The thought of losing a close family member at a young age is such a difficult prospect and these guys do an incredible job supporting children who have been through such an ordeal.

You are currently on the SeeSaw page for EdUKaid donations please go to http://www.justgiving.com/TimDonell1

I started my Journey on January 1st 2010, weighing in at a hefty 105 kgs (16.5 stone) and never run more than 6 miles in one go! I have set a target of £2,260 between both charities which is £10 for every kilometre I will travel!!

You can follow my progress as I go at http://twitter.com/IronmanTD2011 I update this a few times daily with my training, my diet, how I am feeling and general thoughts on the Journey! Please check it out - you don't have to sign up!

Lastly please, please, please donate to either charity - even if it is only £1 a month til next June - it will keep me going through the small dark hours when I am training and feeling pretty low! There is no donation to small (or too large!!)!!

I will be checking back here on a daily basis and your support will be invaluable to me!

Thanks

Tim
