My chosen charity, the Animal Health Trust (AHT), is a veterinary charity dedicated to improving the health and welfare of horses, dogs and cats.   Based near Newmarket they often receive complex case referrals for treatment by their team of world class vets.  Research is a key factor at the AHT.  They are committed to developing better means of diagnosing and treating diseases of companion animals.  With their innovative and pioneering research programmes, they are at the forefront of developments for both inherited and infectious diseases.  Their clinical and research experts work closely together to benefit not only individual cases, but the veterinary profession as a whole, internationally.  For more information on the work the charity does visit their website at www.aht.org.uk.

Growing up and living in an equine environment this is a charity that affects me personally and as they do not receive any government funding they rely completely on donations.  The charity needs £5 million every year to improve the lives of thousands of animals.
