Story
Hi.....
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I know you are all busy people but please can you take 2 minutes to read this.
I had been booked on to do this back in 2010 but had to postpone due to me requiring two recently developed operations on my feet. Anaesthetics number 52 and 53 were administered without a problem and aside to me putting on over 3 stone my feet were well on the way to recovery. In April I hit a wall with a severe bout of Arthritis and was told that aside to fusing both ankles there was nothing I could do but lose weight. Since then I have lost three and a half stone and my feet are the best they have ever been in my life. A lot of this has been down to cycling so I am now well on the way to being able to complete the trip to Paris on 5 June 2013. It will still be a tough task as I have little calf muscle in my legs but you'll be pleased to know the chicken fillets are now rooster size and continuing to strengthen.
The journey will see me cycling nearly 500K over 4 days. This is now a huge personal goal of mine and something to keep me focused on watching my weight so that my feet continue to keep well. I had looked for a charity which supported children that have problems as I had with my feet in my childhood but technology has moved on so much that they can pretty much cure my condition with one or two operations, not the 50 odd that I have had! I therefore chose to raise money for The Cure Parkinson’s Trust who support Parkinson's which is what my daughters Grandad suffered from for so many years.
The Cure Parkinson’s Trust is a patient led charity that funds research which will have an impact on the lives of people with Parkinson’s, with the hope of an eventual cure for the condition. The Cure Parkinson’s Trust was founded in 2005 with the clear goal of finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease by investing in under resourced and under funded projects that offer a real hope of a cure in the future. Its primary role is identifying, funding and evaluating research projects, as well as hosting scientific forums to bring together relevant scientists within the field, to discuss key areas of research and technology.
Thanks for your support
All the best
