Story
The race was on Saturday 23rd June. It was windy and raining hard! The course was flooded and included wading through swollen rivers and clambering up muddy hills! I made it to 62 Miles and was made to stop by the medics, I was absolutely broken and they quite rightly would not allow me to continue. I was running / walking for 19 hours and, although devastated not to have finished, I'm pleased with my effort. Thanks to those who donated, it kept me going during numerous low points.
On June 23rd 2012 I will be running 70 Miles from Carlisle to Gateshead along the route of Hadrian’s Wall in "The Wall Ultra Marathon".
I thought this would be a good opportunity to raise some money for The Frank Haines Memorial Trust. Frank was a childhood friend of mine who sadly died whilst running The Dublin Marathon. A dedicated team, including his family members, set up The Trust in his memory. You can read more about the work they do on the right.
I haven't asked for donations for any event in over 14 years and this is a tough challenge so please donate what you can, it will be appreciated! Tim Guest
