Well, here we are at the end of another year and it’s time to ask you all to put your hands in your pockets to help me raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
So as you sit warm and snug, what would be the most challenging thing to do this time of year?
Bungee jump - too easy
Walk on HOTCoals? – I now dream of walking on hot coals..
Swim with sharks - ah would be bliss, all that warm water..
No, I and 4 other lunatics – you can see their photo – and link to the team site on this page - have agreed and decided and been shamed and peer group pressured to take a plunge for our chosen charity.
Therefore at:
09:00 on Friday 9 December 2011
We throw ourselves in to the “balmy” waters of the Serpentine, Hyde Park London.
Having recently watched Frozen Planet this has certainly “cooled” some enthusiasm but if it were easy it would not be a challenge.
To prepare myself mentally and physically I have planned acclimatisation training:
Morning shower – each day less hot more cold
Turn off central heating – well, that’s easy I don’t have central heating
No duvet - just thin cotton sheet at night
Walk to work wearing only speedos
Spending my lunch break - sitting in Tesco’s freezer cabinet amongst the frozen veg
So be armchair participants – sit around a warm cosy fire or at that time in the morning, if still wrapped in you duvet spare us a thought and spare some change; a few pennies or a few pounds to celebrate and sponsor this inspired lunacy......
In all seriousness, for the last year I have been on the Charity Committee and have seen what good works Macmillan Cancer Support does, from the bottom of my heart ask that you give generously for this most worthy cause.
