Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I'm attempting to run the London Marathon for Spinal research. Sounds pretty ridiculous? yes it is a bit. I've never been able to run more than a couple of miles, even during my School days when i was in the rugby and athletics team (no, not shot put) i still manged to finish in the bottom two of cross country. So what has inspired this?

Last year, my Aunt Jan, an incredibly fit and active woman who has run countless marathons in her life as well as cycling thousands of miles, had a terrible accident. Whilst mountain biking she fell off her bike and broke her spine in several places and is now paralysed from the waste down.

She has been brilliant during rehab and her attitude and mentality has inspired me to try and help in this very small way by raising money for spinal research, a charity dedicated to researching ways of getting people suffering from spinal injuries, walking again.

I hope that you will give what you can, however small, so i can reach my target of £1600

Thank you very much for your donation. It really means a lot to me and to Spinal Research.
