It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Together with 60 other Spencer Stuart colleagues from more than 20 countries around the world, I have signed up to run the Berlin Marathon 2017 for the Pancreatic Cancer UK Foundation.

This will be my second marathon, after running the New York Marathon in 2015. I am looking forward to four (or possibly -- five?) hours of sweat, toil, and sight-seeing through Berlin, culminating in what will surely be one of the most satisfying frosty beers of my entire life.

The charity is a worthy one. Pancreatic cancer has the worst survival rates of any of the 21 most common cancers, with fewer than 4% of patients surviving for five years or longer following diagnosis. Some of my colleagues at Spencer Stuart have sad personal experiences with the disease. The Pancreatic Cancer UK Foundation is fighting to make a difference and Jonathan Harper, a partner in our London office, is a member of the foundation's advisory board.
