Our objective is simple: 'Building Better Futures' for young adults with autism, by providing bespoke employment training and work experience. Training takes place at The Autism Trust & Polly's Place in Camberley, which sells handmade gifts & art created by people with autism & their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For this year's charity endurance event, I will be taking part in the Welsh 3000's challenge on 2nd and 3rd July 2010 with some fellow mountain climbers in aid of The Autism Trust.  This two day challenge requires you to climb all the 15 peaks over 3000ft in Wales.  Just to add in an extra element of push and pain, we are aiming for a time of 20 hours to complete the challenge!  Training is going well so far, however a recent practice run was rather a hair-raising experience and ended in the realisation that tired muscles and sheer drops do not mix well.

I have chosen to support the fabulous organisation,The Autism Trust, founded by Polly Tommey who comments 'being told that your child has autism is heartbreaking and frightening'.  Research into a likely future for her son showed a bleak outlook with not enough support or provision as such children approach adulthood.  These findings led to the creation of The Autism Trust.  There are over 6million people in the UK affected by autism.

Sufferers are marked by an impaired ability to communicate and interact socially, narrowly focused attention, and repetitive behaviour.  Disorders vary from mild (high functioning) to so severe they are unable to take part in normal society.  Autism affects 1 in 100, mostly males.

So please dig deep and donate now.
