Update on the progress. We (Jim, Vera and Gemma) made it to Uhuru Peak at 7:45 on Wednesday 15th September 2010. The views were spectacular, and the weather perfect, but the slog up the last 1200 meters of scree slope was pretty tough. Sue, my sister, made it to the last camp, Barafu, at 4,700 meters.
We all say that thanks to the support from the donors, we felt we would not, could not let you down. So thanks for the support.
If you feel the urge to climb Kilimanjaro yourselves, we would recommend Honey Badger Lodges (and Milestone Tours) http://www.honeybadgerlodge.com/ , run by friends of ours Jenny and Joey Renju (and baby Eli). However unless you are completely mad, and totally preprared, it is tough.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We, as a family, have wanted to attempt Kilimanjaro for a long time, and now the time has come. We all are going to climb Kilimanjaro in September 2010, and at the same time raise money for AMREF. AMREF is one of the largest health and education charities in Africa and we have seen many of its activities in East Africa. We hope to climb all the way to the top, but whether we do or not we hope you can sponsor us and help raise money for AMREF.
We aim to raise £1000, so thanks for your support.
