In January 2009 my Dad, Neil suffered a serious stroke that hit him and our family hard!  He finds his difficulties in speech and communication the hardest part to live with and as his son this is what I miss the most! BUT,  with his wife kathryn who has been amazing and supportive, and the love and support of our family and friends he has been recovering slowly and making progress each day!  Although this happened and my dad and has had to adapt his life so much, he doesn't let it get him down, he still has his sense of humor and we can still enjoy time as a family.  Without that determination from him and the support from the healthcare professionals and our family and friends life would not be the same!

As his eldest son of 3 boys, I wanted to show my appreciation and support to him, our family and those who have helped my dad and others alike. So I am going to do this 244 mile bike ride over 3 days to raise £1300 for The Stroke Association.  We leave from London on 9/9/10 for Portsmouth where we cross the Channel by ferry then up through France to Finish in the heart of Paris!  The chance to do this amazing challenge for a wothy cause is going to be a tough but rewarding experience that I won't forget.

The Stroke Association funds research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation, and helps stroke patients and their families directly through its Life After Stroke Services. These include Information, Advice and Support, Communication Support and Life After Stroke grants.

I really hope that you will support me in my first fund raising mission that is frankly scaring me a bit, and show your support to my dad who has been inspirational to me!
