Story
As part of a fantastic group of property people I will be cycling a gruelling 250 miles over 3 days from London to Paris. Now don’t let the photo fool you, although I have a bike I am no hardcore bicyclist and to date my furthest ride is less than our shortest day! So this will be a real challenge for me and therefore any donations, I can assure you will be well earned.
Please do not shy away from donating just a few quid...every little helps and I know will be put to great use by our friends at LandAid.
OVERVIEW: M&G Real Estate and Savills have joined forces for a gruelling 3 day cycling challenge from Savills London Office (Richmond) to M&G's Paris Office. We've joined together to raise money for LandAid, the Property Industry's Charity.
A tour de force made up two globally dominant real estate players that have teamed up to raise some much needed funds for a very worthwhile charitable cause.
LANDAID BACKGROUND: Every day of every year, thousands of young people in the UK
find themselves homeless. Many are forced to sleep in overcrowded hostels, in cheap B&Bs, or worse still, on the streets. Yet homelessness isn’t inevitable. It’s a problem that can be solved.
With the right support services and secure accommodation, we can prevent young people from becoming homeless and protect those who are.
Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. Rising rents and reductions in benefit payments have had a negative impact on the country’s most vulnerable young people and organisations delivering critical services are struggling with an increase in demand. They desperately need investment to reach more young people.
That’s why we’re here. We bring together remarkable businesses and individuals from across the property industry to support projects that deliver life-changing services to young people facing homelessness.
We help to protect young people on the streets, provide accommodation and training and tackle the root causes of homelessness.
We do this by: Awarding grants to exceptional small-medium sized charities working with young people who are at risk of becoming homeless, are currently homeless, or have experienced homelessness in the past. We mainly fund capital projects which provide much-needed homes and stimulating spaces for vulnerable young people.
Brokering free property expertise for charities working with disadvantaged young people, families and communities including those experiencing homelessness. We match skilled property professionals from our amazing network of partner companies with charities in need of advice on their buildings.
Raising awareness of homelessness. We use our profile within the property industry to highlight the issue of homelessness and challenge stereotypes. We also provide a platform for young people to have their views heard through our Young Voices programme.
