Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. So... another challenge, this time back out to the Sahara (to start with)... Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) “It’s hot and it’s clean. I like the desert because it is clean” What is it? It is a 250km / 155 mile foot race just under a week - the equivalent of 6 marathons though the desert. We have to carry all our food/clothing/medical equipment and sleeping kit in our packs. Water and tents are provided. The first 4 days are about a marathon each day. The big stage is on Thursday-Friday and is a double marathon (about 84km / 52 miles). The final stage is on Saturday, and is a gentle 10km/6 miles. I am told that this page will include position details, stage update, video clips and pictures.  My bib is 34. <a href="http://www.4deserts.com/sahararace/breaking_news">http://www.4deserts.com/sahararace/breaking_news</a> In order to make sure I am not getting off too lightly, I will be flying back to go up to Wales and run 50 miles across the Brecon Beacons in a single stage - so a bit of a contrast from the desert! As I have asked many people in the past for sponsorship, I am not actively looking for money this time, however if there is an opportunity it would be a shame to waste it! I will  be raising money for the VCCF - Vintners' Company Charitable Foundation. This foundation helps those trade members who have fallen on hard times, and fights alcohol abuse in all its forms, whilst providing facilities for sufferers, or alcohol education.
