On the 31st July I am cycling the Prudential RideLondon 100 mile cycle event. The event starts at the Olympic Stadium in East London and winds out into Surrey, finishing on the Mall. Its a televised event so if I crash spectacularly you may see me. I certainly won't be anywhere near the front of the race!

I am raising money via Team Jackie for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

Each year 9000 people in the UK are diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. It is the 5th most common cancer death accounting for 5% of cancer deaths in the UK.

Pancreatic Cancer has the lowest survival rate in the UK of all cancers - only 3% of people diagnosed survive and criminally this survival rate statistic has not improved for 40 years. 5 year survival rates have improved for almost every category of cancer since the 1970's. Simply put there has not been enough money spent on researching the disease to increase the survival rate. TeamJackie was set up by our friend and ex-neighbour David Orme to fund research into Pancreatic Cancer, after David lost his wife, Jackie to this disease in 2012.

Unbelievably and incredibly, David and his supporters have raised nearly  £300k for the Pancreatic Research Fund since TeamJackie was set-up, through these sorts of events that David arranges himself regularly.

Any donation that you can afford would be hugely appreciated. It won't absolutely will not go unnoticed or unappreciated by me, and certainly not by the Pancreatic Cancer Research fund and Team Jackie either, who continue to campaign tirelessly to increase the 3% survival rate for those people diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.
