There are over one billion people in the World without water. No one person can solve that problem but we can each take one step, one day at a time or in our case pedal a lot of miles !. All I am asking you to do is to donate some money to this great cause.
In November 2010 four friends and I will cycle 400KM in to fund a PlayPump Water System installation in a rural African school. BUT Please note we need to raise all the money by the end of April in order to ensure the equipment can be purchased and installed before November so we can see it in action when we visit, after cycling the distance from to we will need a drink or two ourselves !
PlayPump water systems are merry-go-rounds that entertain, educate and pump water. They feature a merry-go-round pump head with high-capacity, sealed water storage tank and four billboard spaces for both advertising and powerful public education messages. This advertising revenue is used to fund maintenance and guarantee sustainability.
“As children spin and play on the new roundabout, fresh clean water is pumped from deep underground into a storage tank and then to taps. This simple idea is changing the lives of thousands of African people.
PlayPumps provide much more than just water, access to water means education, hygiene, health, and nutrition - To find out more visit http://www.onedifference.org/
The photo shows the PlayPump one of my friends raised the money for last year. This shows the installation at the Uitschot school about 250KM from in a rural area of the NW . 500 children now have access to clean water. Dave was so touched by the villages reaction he vowed to do the same again this year for another village and persuaded us to join him.
So go on make a donation now …………. And if you can’t decide how much to donate go for the bigger amount !
Thanks in anticipation
