Story

UPDATE: I finished in 4 hours 28 minutes, running through Brighton on a beautiful day of bright sunshine, blue skies and cold wind. Really chuffed to have completed, the crowds were amazing, and it was great to see so many friends along the way. A massive thanks to all who sponsored or supported on the day - couldn't have done it without you.

So here's the deal. I get 26 miles of pain and tears plus 6am training runs four times a week. You get to support an amazing Brighton charity supporting families with disabled children from the comfort of your armchair. Sounds good doesn't it? Please dig deep and donate to support Amaze - thank you.

I'm running to raise money for the Amaze charity, supporting parents of children with special needs and disabilities in Brighton and Hove. I first found out about Amaze through the DataBridge project, helping local charities make better use of data to bid for services and show the impact they are making (well, I am a data geek after all...), and wanted to help further. To find out more about Amaze, their website is www.amazebrighton.org.uk (and there is more about the DataBridge project at www.databridge.org.uk).

Training has been hard, with a fair few injuries. So hoping to make it to the start line in one piece, and enough miles under my belt to have a decent chance of getting round. On the plus side, I get to watch dawn rising over the sea as I work my way back to something vaguely resembling fitness.

* 5 days left, first run for a week. Optimistic about making the start line. Keep em crossed...
* 10 days to go, calf strain 5 miles from home, a long limp to find a taxi. Looking touch and go for the big day.
* 3 weeks to go, just back in training after a couple of weeks off with a foot injury. Back up to 14 miles.

You can donate through this JustGiving website, or drop me an email if you'd prefer to do it the old fashioned way. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Amaze, and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation.

Thank you! And see you on the other side ...

Tom.
