On Tuesday the 1 of March (a day already synonymous with massive achievements, famous births and incredible events, see the list below to refresh your memory!) four guy’s will be attempting to eat four 78oz Rythre Monster steaks at the Rythre Arms. This momentous event will be to raise money for a fantastic local charity, St Leonards Hospice in York.

The four in question, none of who have ever attempted an eating quest so incredible, are to be on display in the bar for everyone to mock or admire as they try to eat the infamous, nearly 5lb rump steak. A popular misconception about the Monster is that if you eat it all, you get it for free. Well on this occasion it will be! as we try and raise as much money as possible to support this really important cause.

On the 1 of March. Yahoo was incorporated in 1995, The Hoover Damn is completed in 1936, Albert Berry makes the first parachute jump from a plane in 1912, Sarah Good, Sarah Osborne and Tituba are brought before local magistrates in Salem Village, Massachusetts, beginning what would become known as the Salem witch trials in 1692, The city of Rio de Janeiro is founded in 1565. Chancellor of the Exchequer James Callaghan confirmed in 1966 the "historic and momentous" decision to change over to decimal coinage (if only he knew what would be happening a mere 45 years later). The 1 of March also happens to be “Saint David's Day” or “Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant” and “Self Injury Awareness Day” (This could be the best reason for choosing the 1!)

Born this day, Catherine Bach, 1954(Daisy Duke, who could forget)John Pell, 1611(English Mathematician) Justin Bieber, 1994(Canadian Singer)
