Bupa Great Yorkshire Run 2009 · 6 September 2009 ·

ME Research UK exists solely to fund high quality biomedical studies into the causes and treatment of ME/CFS. This illness affects approximately 250,000 people in the UK but is neither well understood nor, in many cases, properly recognised. We fund highly regarded, peer-reviewed research worldwide.

Story

I DID IT !!!!!! I ran my 1st ever 10K in 61 mins and didn't walk or stop once.

I ran in Sheffield on September 6th to earn much needed cash for ME Research UK.Research into myalgic encephalitis(M.E.) is vastly underfunded by the Government, yet this debilitating illness affects almost a quarter of a million people in the UK including my wife Claire. My aim was in some small way to further the cause of this great charity & at the very least raise awareness of this illness. Thank you so so much to each & every one of you for your encouragment, support & generous sponsorships despite the current financial climate.A lot of us are feeling the pinch but its because of these tough times that charities such as ME Research UK need our help even more as they struggle to continue their great and often unheard great work.Giving just a little amount really will make a difference! (Sound like Bob Geldof or Bono don't I, we share the same nationality and there sadly the comparison ends!) If u haven't sponsored & u would still like to you can still do so here until December & your support is very much appreciated.Even if you are overseas you can still donate here.We already have sponsors on this page from Hong Kong,Singapore &Ireland. Thanks a million!!! I really couldn't do this without all of you.
