Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please can you help? A little background…. for those of you that know me well, will know that not only do I hate exercise in general, I especially hate running. And so obviously the most logical thing to do as my next fundraising activity had to be The Great North Run which I will attempt (J ) to complete on the 18th September this year. Please bear in mind that when I put my name down for this at the beginning of the year, I didn’t even own a pair of trainers but now I have a lovely 13 mile run to complete. The reason I am doing this run is to make some more money to fund a brilliant research project that will run at Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology. As you are most probably aware, I lost my wonderful dad 18 months ago now to a brain tumour called a Glioblastoma multiforme. This is the most common form of brain tumour and is sadly also the most aggressive. Over 90 patients are referred to Clatterbridge each year with this type of tumour but despite advances in therapy, they remain associated with poor prognosis and most patients survive for less than 15 months. This project will fund research to increase understanding of the biology of these tumours. It will also allow the centre to be able to identify sub-types of tumour and provide therapy tailored to the individual glioblastoma patient. This would be a massive help to ensure that not only patients are treated as effectively as possible while remaining comfortable but it will also invaluable for their families to help understand the huge range of symptoms that are possible as part of this horrible disease. Please please help me raise as much money as I can for this brilliant cause. Any sponsorship would be greatly received and I will receive £4£ from Barclays Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Thank you for all your support Love Alex x
