This year Team "Ben Brown" have  chosen to raise Money for Childrens Brain Tumour Charity..

When I heard that and old school friend and his beautiful wife, and family were going thorough such a heart breaking time, I knew then that this years 10k was going to be for Ben. 

So lets raise loads of cash for children's Brain tumour research,  and try and help prevent other families like Andy & Claire going though this.

THIS IS BENS STORY!!

Ben was a happy 5 year old always smiling little boy who couldn't wait to start big school and be with his big sister. But on the 18th October 2011 Ben starting being sick we put his sickness down to a bug and thought he would get better after a few days, but things only seamed to get worse Ben started to get headaches and was sleeping for long periods during the day. We had Ben at the doctors every week only to be sent home with antibiotics that made Ben sick and vomit every time he took it. We where at the hospital 3 times only to be told that Ben was a mystery and that he would grow out of it. This didn't help and Ben was getting weaker and weaker not being able to keep anything down and losing so much weight after 6 weeks of seeing the doctor he referred Ben to the children's ward at Blackpool Victoria Hospital there they scanned Ben and found a large lump on the left side of Bens  brain measuring 6 by 4 cm they referred Ben to Alder Hey Childrens Hospital in an ambulance straight
away. They operated on Ben the following morning to remove the tumour. This was just the start of a very long hard battle. Ben was diagnosed with SPnet a very rare and very aggressive Brain Tumour with a poor outcome we were devastated the thought of losing our beautiful boy our little cheeky monkey our little ray of sunshine excepting Ben had cancer was very hard. You ask WHY BEN what has he done that was so bad WHY my boy
Ben recovered well after surgery and on the 19 December 2011 Ben started his chemotherapy. Bens treatment consisted of 4 lots of high dose chemo 4 and half weeks of radiotherapy twice a day and then high dose chemo with stem cell rescue twice.
The treatment left Ben unable to talk , walk Ben was epileptic and had a weakness on his right hand side. Sadly in June 2014
Bens cancer returned the doctors only gave him 6 to 8 weeks but Ben fought on and made it to 5 months Ben passed away on the 26 November 2014 aged 8 years old surrounded by his loving family who miss him every single day xxx
