Story
I am raising money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JRDF). After Common Entrance next term on 4th June fourteen of us from my year at school (we are all 12 or 13 years old) are walking across the most challenging and dramatic of the Snowdonia range of mountains for 3 days. As we all leave Maidwell Hall at the end of the term and go on to senior school this is one of our final challenges and it is a big one. We will ascend 8 mountains over 3,000 feet and will walk about 30 miles in total. We will be carrying our heavy rucksacks which will weigh about 15-20kg with all our provisions for the three days together with our tents. Our expedition is unsupported with three nights spent camping. It will be a real challenge for us but our Headmaster, who will be with us has prepared us well and he assures us that we will be inspired by the scenery when the going gets tough and also being part of a team. We also have some Fathers (including my Dad) and one Mother.
The main reason for us choosing this charity is that our Head Boy this year was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes last summer and we are all determined to raise as much money as we can to help JDRF find a cure. Felix, our Head Boy is going to be with us too with his Father on the walk.
I have never done anything quite like this before but I am really looking forward to it, being part of a team and the challenge of the walk and raising as much money as possible.
