Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. On 5th April 2007 we sadly discovered Gene (or Pete to his friends in Rugby) has developed Pancreatic Cancer. On that day he was given a life expectancy of 4-6 months. He is at present battling through a gruelling course of chemotherapy with the help of the wonderful team on the Sperrin Unit, Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry. Unfortunately it wont cure this disease but should give Gene a better quality of life. We came to live in Ireland, on the Fermanagh/Donegal border in November 2003 with our daughter, Kate, now 17 years old. At that time we hoped to have many years in this beautifully scenic part of the world but now it seems our dreams are not to be. We have made some marvellous friends here in Ireland but also remember our dear friends and family back in England. Please dig deep and sponsor us online. On August 7th there will be a sponsored toddle around the park in Garrison. This will start at the Bilberry Restaurant, children will complete a lap around the park and return to the Bilberry. Afterwards we are hosting a coffee morning with refreshments and cakes, all funds raised will be donated to Pancreatic Cancer UK so please come along, and sponsor one of the local children in their toddle. Quin, pictured left with Grandad Gene, will be participating in the toddle.
This site has been set up in aid of the charity Pancreatic Cancer UK, so we can try and raise more awareness and help make a difference. It's easy to sponsor us in our fundraising, just click the button above and do your good deed for the day!

Many thanks for your support, from Gene, Sandra and family FUND RAISING UPDATE 13/07/07 Thank you to Lee Ann and Bobby for starting our first on-line donations. Just heard that our darling grandaughter, Bryony (Bridie) aged 9 is taking part in a sponsored walk around Draycote water near Rugby to help raise funds. To add to our events we are now holding a quiz at the Bilberry Restaurant on Friday 10th August. It is only £10 per table (4 people) and I've sold 2 tables this morning. Quin and 3 of his little friends were out practising for the Toddle this morning, so well done Quin. FUND RAISING UPDATE 27/07/07 Over 20 toddlers have promised to turn up (rain or shine) on Tuesday 7th, many of their Mummies have donated raffle prizes and the local paper are hopefully calling out next week to take some photo's of Quin and his grandad. We have reserved over 10 tables for the quiz on Friday 10th and again the raffle prizes are coming in for that night. Lynn Smith(Quin's Nanny) in Rugby is busy collecting sponsor money, so a big thank you to her and all her work mates. Please pray for sunshine on Tuesday 7th. Thanks for all donations so far, much appreciated. UPDATE 05/08/07 Gene (Pete) is no longer receiving chemo as it was making him quite poorly, since stopping he has been really well, even managing fried breakfast today. As for Fund Raising, we are just about ready for this week's big events: TUESDAY 7TH AUGUST.......TODDLE & COFFEE MORNING 10AM FRIDAY 10TH AUGUST........QUIZ NIGHT 9PM Some of the sponsor money has already been sent in to us, we would just like to say thank you to all our friends and family who have already offered help. Quin's Daddy has received an E-mail from the band Madness to say they are sending us a little something for Friday night........keep checking to see how it's all going. 3 local newspapers are also helping with a bit more publicity. UPDATE 13/08/07 A big big thank you to all our dear friends for donations and support over the last few weeks. A special thank you to my family who have worked so hard and given so much of their time (and money) to make last week's events so successful. Without Carl, Hayley, Kate and of course the mighty Quin, none of this would have happened. We stilll havent counted all the money raised from the Quiz night but we think it is over £800. Our next event hopefully will be on October 20th (details to be announced) but please, please keep donating on here so we can really make a difference. UPDATE 30/09/07 Due to Gene not be so well over the last couple of weeks, we have decided to have our next event in December. Carl is organising another Quiz night with a Christmas theme on 7th December and Kate is planning a non uniform day at St. Mary's Hight School, Brollagh. Many thanks to the students from the school for donating 130 euro after their end of year formal ball last week. So although we have nearly trebled our original target of £1000 the fund raising will continue. update 07/11/07 Sadly Gene died on Saturday 27th October, he left peacefully and without any pain. He stayed at home right till the end thanks to our wonderful nurses, Karen, Kate, Pauline and Margaret. We managed the traditional Irish wake he had requested and his funeral mass was in St. Patricks Ballyshannon. He is now at peace buried in Belleek with his mum and uncle johnny. All 3 of his girls took part in the funeral service as well as our grandchildren, Bridie and the mighty Quin. We also owe so much to Carl and Hayley who have been such a support. I am so glad we were able to come home to Ireland in November 2003, sadly he wasnt here for as long as we would have liked but I shall remain here and visit all our favourite places in Co. Donegal. The fund raising will continue, as it gave him a purpose through the difficult days of his illness. Many thanks for your kind generosity.
