Were raising money for Rainbow House by walking around Mont Blanc. This should take around 10 - 12 days it's about 180 km trek around the Mont Blanc range, taking us amongst some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in Europe and crossing borders from France into Italy and Switzerland. We will climb and descend during the trek 33,000ft.

All of the money raised will go to the charity, no costs for the trip will come from any of the donations so please donate if you would like to.

The Legacy Rainbow House is a children’s charity based in Mawdesley, Lancashire. We currently help 172 disabled children  per week, suffering from many conditions, cerebral palsy, brain damage at birth, acquired brain injury, genetic and metabolic conditions and some undiagnosed.

 

This service was created by a mother of two boys who suffer from a life threatening rare genetic disorder which took away their middle brain. If her children hadn’t have received the rehabilitation services when they were young, it is more than likely that they would not be here today. 99% of Children who suffer from her children’s condition do not live past their 3^rd birthday due to the weak muscle tone, this means organs too. Her children continued to thrive, they are now 12 and 14yrs old, but it is unlikely that they will live pass their 16^th birthdays, due to chemical imbalances. However they have given her the courage and inspiration for her to create a unique centre. They are happy and independent children, and they live life to the full.

 

The centre now helps over 200 children a week and is open fifty weeks of the year but receives no statutory funding; this means we remain totally reliant on voluntary funding and why support from our local community is so important to us and very much appreciated.

Joanne Mawdesley built this dream from scratch and is helping many children and their families every year, she continues to strive and is the vision behind this fantastic project she is a pleasure to work for and is a comfort and joy to know as a friend.
