Once again we are taking part in the Walk For ME event to raise vital funds for this debilitating illness (ME - Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). People are suffering and lives are being lost. We need to raise funds to research the cause of, and hopefully find an effective treatment for ME. People need to be given their lives back!! This is so very personal to me as Kelsey (my daughter) has ME. This walk is also for all our friends, and those we love who have ME too.

To look at Kelsey people would think she looks 'well'. But looks can be very deceiving! Kelsey struggles to do simple things, things that most 21 year olds take for granted. Those who knew Kelsey before she became ill will know that she was a bright girl, very academic. A girl who wanted to learn, who wanted an interesting, successful career. Since being ill Kelsey is unable to work or study; the study side of things being the hardest for her to accept. But she has faced everything head on, and accepted the limitations her illness brings. She does what she is capable of doing within those limitations. We cope with things together, and hope that one day those limitations will be lifted and she will live the life she so deserves. For now though, Kelsey continues to smile and remain positive. She is strong and courageous; she's a fighter, she's my inspiration! 

Sadly, Kelsey is not alone. There are an estimated 250,000 people in Britain who are affected. We aim to walk 4 miles, whilst pushing Kelsey in her wheelchair, to raise funds for ME Research UK. We shall be doing the walk/wheelchair push during ME Awareness week which runs from 11th-17th May. Please donate whatever you can to this worthwhile cause.
