We fund vital research to ensure effective treatments for all.

Story

I have joined a team of CF supporters, as well as young people who have Cystic Fibrosis themselves, to do a Tandem Skydive in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust to take place on Saturday 22nd May 2010 from Langar Airfield in Nottingham - the bigger the Team the more monies we will raise for the Charity.

This is a real challenge for me as I really don't like heights and I don't really like aeroplanes but my inspiration for this is my son, William who has CF - all who jump will have a connection to Cystic Fibrosis - either a parent, a friend, or the parent of a deceased child.

We are jumping in memory of all those who have lost their fight to this dreadful disease and I wouldn't even have considered doing a Tandem Skydive, but compare 20 minutes out of your life to doing something daring to living with Cystic Fibrosis day in day out and the intrusion into the lives of families living with it and dying with it = no comparison.  BRING IT ON - TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!

The aim is to have a minimum of 25 of us 'volunteers' taking part to collectively raise more than £25,000 to beat the 2009 Challenge Team.  Update : as at end of January, there are over 60 confirmed jumpers!!!

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the UK’s most common life-threatening inherited disease

Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick, sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.

Average life expectancy is around 31 years and, although improvements in treatments mean a baby born today could expect to live longer, there is no cure for CF and lung transplantation is often the only option. Most individuals with cystic fibrosis die young, many in their 20s and 30s from lung failure.

Each week, 3 YOUNG LIVES are lost to Cystic Fibrosis.

We are aiming to raise a lot of money to go to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust to help towards research and care for those suffering from CF, so please give generously.
