AAD supports several projects in the Kasese district in Western Uganda. It supports the St Marks Primary School and the 270 pupils of which about 100 are orphans. It provides sustainable micro-enterprise opportunities for the local community and it supports the training of local church pastors.

Story

For anyone not aware, Charlie is my little boy who now plays with the angels. He died in 2007 when he was hit by a speeding car at just 5 years old. He had the brightest smile and was one of the biggest joys in my life. When he died, my world shattered. However, it also made me realise how short our lives can be, and that we need to make the most of every day and live for now. In the after shock, I set myself a few challenges, one of which was to do an abseil.

Charlie should have been 8 this year, and to commemorate his birthday, on Sunday 18th April, I'll be abseiling 200 ft down the Avon gorge in Bristol. I'm scared of heights but I've been told the initial leaning back over the top of the cliff is the worst bit....

I've chosen 2 charities to donate sponsorship money to. One is An African Dream, the other is the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance trust (to make a donation here please see my second page http://www.justgiving.com/TracyabseilTVAir). At this point I need to add that I WILL DO THIS! Your sponsorship is absolutely safe - I have a friend coming with me who will push me over the top if necessary!!

This page is collecting donations for An African Dream. The charity supports a school with some 270 pupils including about 100 orphans in Uganda. I've chosen the charity as Charlie was very much affected by the plight of the African street children after watching comic relief one year, and one of his favourite places to be was at school with his friends.

Thank you for visiting my page, I hope you'll donate to one of these 2 very worthy causes
