Story
Okay, just to be completely clear, Barely Legal are not some kind of Magic Mike/Chippendales stage show. They are a serious street crew raised like angry wolves on the mean streets of Sheffield. Now working in the legal sector at the local offices of law firms DLA, Nabarro and Irwin Mitchell, they try to juggle their love of hardcore trance and deep six hair bear tunes laced with a unique reggae flava (really, we have no idea either) with the demands of their day job. The count 5ive, Boyzone, So Solid, Pitbull, L-Lo and Enrique as some of their key musical influences.
Back in the day, Barely Legal shot to fame alongside JAY-Z in 2005 (seriously? Who writes this?! You would have been about 5 years old?!!! Yeah, don't tell me. Beyoncé schooled you whilst you were under the big man's wing and he was hanging out with Becky with the Hair). The band have finally come back together after many years (because they are skint). It's their first Sheffield gig since the Arctic Monkey's supported them in 2006 on their 'Whatever People Say I Am' tour, an album that Barely Legal produced ... and wrote.
The band members are:
- James Hall: The man with the dodgy hip and even worse voice, often seen in Sheffield in an oversized black leather jacket that was bought from a charity shop for fancy dress but which has now become his go-to warm attire now that he has shred his Wookie hair.
- Adam Walker: Part-time student, Part-time paralegal, full time beard grower and all-time fashionista (so he tells us!).
- Ryan Cullen: Otherwise known as Bret from Flight of the Concords.
- Kurt Davies: Potentially the reason Woolworths went bust (what does this actually mean? He stole from them? He made them breach their banking covenants?) and a man who likes a risky photo (and ...... back to Magic Mike).
- Sam Millington: Proud runner up of the X Factor 2012 (he wishes) ...... and this is because he looks like Leona Lewis?!? We still don't understand what you're talking about!! Oh ...... Wait a minute, James Arthur was the winner ...... wow, that's pretty insulting to Sam.
Barely Legal are going to give you the show [aka shock] of your life [wit no more in-band jokes which nobody else could possibly understand]! Please support us and the charity on our climb back up the celebrity ladder - we are Barely Legal - Sheffield grab on to something and get ready for this ride!
