At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you. Visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk

Story

We are raising money for CLIC Sargent and we have chosen this charity because last September good friends of ours received the devastating and shocking news that their 2 and a half year old daughter has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Fortunately her prognosis is excellent and she is doing really well and is being so brave, and making her parents, and all of us who know her, extremely proud. Even when she was moved to the most intensive chemo programme, after the first month of treatment, she still continues to just get on with everything thrown at her and hasn't lost any of her cheeky, chatty personality. The treatment is a 2 and a half year programme so life will be somewhat different for her and her parents during this time, but we know that she should live a normal and long life, once the treatment plan is finished. CLIC Sargent is a charity that has really supported them so far on their journey, via a dedicated social worker as well as community nurses that visit her at home to administer some of the treatment and health checks (and will continue to do so at nursery / school when she is well enough to return ). This enables her to carry on as normal a life as possible. Money raised by the charity also offers the family treats in the form of day trips and holidays, to get some respite from all that's happening.

We know however that a lot of children, supported by CLIC Sargent, won't necessarily have as positive a prognosis and so it's great to know that any money we raise will go towards putting smiles on faces of these young cancer patients, and supporting them and their families through whatever they are faced with.
